Hand & Heart
Sean Flinn & The Royal We hail from Portland, Oregon, and certainly bowled us over in this episode! Having just wrapped up a European tour supporting Herman Dune, we caught up with them last month and they were more than happy to squeeze in a couple of songs for us. Their debut album ‘Write Me A Novel’ is a very impressive and sophisticated array of songs. It has all the qualities a road movie should have to keep you hooked. A momentum beautifully crafted out of waltzes and country rock ballads that carry you to a place far, far away.
The Hand & Heart is a CAMRA award winning pub on Derby Road. We filmed in the lovely gallery upstairs, but there is also a sandstone cave downstairs, which makes it one of Nottingham’s most unique venues. A once Georgian house that started brewing beer in converted stables is now a real gem. Drop by for a Sunday Lunch and a guest ale!

Sheffield based Standard Fare have been rocking Nottingham’s socks off for the past year or so now. Here they show us a little gentler how proficient they are. Emma Kupa, Danny How and Andy Beswick are a real tight and nifty humdinger of a three-piece! Humorous and earnest songwriting that packs a punch even when it’s stripped down. Their new album ‘Out Of Sight, Out Of Town’ is released through Melodic Records on 12th December.
Page 45 is Nottingham’s number one comic book shop, situated on Market Street. They stock a vast amount of comics and graphic novels, and also host the odd sketching and signing session too! They were very kind and treated us to an after hours lock-in for our second adventure!
